Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade has launched a new Foreign Trade Procedures Portal in cooperation with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and with funding from the United Kingdom, aiming to facilitate import and export operations and improve the business environment.

The portal provides a comprehensive and accessible platform outlining all procedures related to imports, exports, and transit trade, including relevant authorities and contact points, helping reduce time, cost, and administrative burdens on businesses.

“The portal represents a qualitative leap in making all foreign trade procedures clear and accessible, contributing to reducing time, effort, and cost for the business community,” Minister of Investment Mohamed Farid said during the launch event.

He added that the initiative reflects Egypt’s commitment to implementing structural reforms aimed at improving procedural efficiency and enhancing the quality of services provided to investors and traders.

Farid noted that Egypt continues to fulfill its commitments under the Trade Facilitation Agreement since joining in 2019, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 553 of 2018.

He also stressed that the launch aligns with Egypt’s obligations under the World Trade Organization’s Trade Facilitation Agreement, particularly Article 1 on transparency and the publication of trade-related information online, helping improve access to data and support a more transparent trading environment.
